America Pray/Prey

Greetings Family,

Water has forever been the source I go to that clears my mind, elevates my spirit and replenishes my body. Anytime I am near its soothing presence cathartic releases always ensues. So, naturally, during a long soak, when the title of this post materialized a peace accompanied it ushering in rest which up until then had been eluding me. America Prey, as in, could fall prey to any number of oppositional forces both internally or externally caused fear to mount-something that not even growing up in South Central Los Angeles had garnered. Now with the latest shooting in Las Vegas not to mention North Korea nuclear threats escalating, it felt events were so out of control there was no recoverable path to security. This, I mused, this would an ideal time to strike. This moment where everyone was preoccupied with the weapons of Mass Distraction which perfectly veiled what was truly occurring. And it was then, to my surprise, America Pray, as in, healing, coming together, was blossoming into form. 

America really was becoming great, yet not again, as this President constantly laminates, but period.

America, its swirling masses ever negotiating how to contend with itself, its citizenry as well as its place in the world, was now in a space to actualize its true intended heritage. Fore, the leader of this current administration is so stanchly advocating his constituency's ideology that unbeknownst to him, he is exposing vulnerable areas that will cause the demise of the racist foundation this country was built upon. By that I mean, as a nation, we get to see white nationalist faces as the blanket of anonymity is ripped away to uncover the deeds they use to perform in the dark; however now is being brought to light, so we, us, the U.S. can remove these individuals from positions of power where no harm can be inflicted. So with the current presidency, continuing to wield its unrelenting messages of division, misinformation and falsehoods, it is further exposing even more of the foundational brick, mortar and nails so we us, the U.S. can directly go to the problem and completely dismantle what has been keeping this country in ragged fragmentation that up until now was utilizing institutional racism as glue to hold the mock façade of us, U.S together. And this façade along with over consumerism, galvanized elitism and ruthless capitalism has produced a separation of thought, of personage, that has intrinsically effected how we, us, U.S. has functioned within these shores causing us, U.S., to believe we are different one from another. A misconception, a lie really, that is melting right before our very eyes through each unfortunate tragedy that is forcing us, U.S., to see we are more alike than not.

Racism, no matter its form be it covert or overt, is a cultural insecurity one group tries to exert over another promulgating the guise the group being exerted upon is beneath the group trying to do the exerting; this mind you while the exerting group brandish control that really does not exist-especially when the group being exerted upon no longer wishes to be controlled. That is how we, us, the U.S. was formed and despite the country's distorted history greatness still manifested; abolishing institutions the establishment never thought would fall with help appearing from unexpected places as people no longer could stand, or as in today’s environment, kneel, for what they would no longer tolerate.   

My point is simply this, universal as well as natural laws exist whether or not any one chooses to recognize them. Gravity is gravity and no amount of denial is going to change that reality. The same holds true that no matter how much hate tries to avail, love will prevail as Humanity has an infallible way of eradicating injustice as it is just us, U.S., in the end.

That is the America I pray for.
